Why it works
The opening shows a child, distant target, and eyeball by 0:03, making an abstract mechanism spatial before the stakes arrive at 0:10. Across 22 internal graphic changes, one eye-and-light diagram evolves from normal focusing to failure and an attractive old theory; the evidence reversal at 1:28 resets attention. The indoor/outdoor split at 1:54–2:00 makes the replacement cause visible with ~250 versus ~20,000 lux, and 1:56–1:57.6 is the most-replayed stretch.
