Why it works
The first word begins at 0.00 s and the first cut waits until frame 48, making a worried face and a practical sentence carry the hook. A five-frame fade from white at frame 1188 opens the imagined world, while the same device at frame 2748 returns to the room; the picture then fades toward black from about frame 3123. The 57-shot structure leaves room for faces and silence between those turns.
