Why it works
The first distinct opening transition is the one-frame flash at frame 50, after three measured shot segments of continuous monochrome action. A median 0.80-second shot keeps the role list quick, while the shift to parent–child footage in shots 60–65 changes the meaning of the refrain; shot 77 then steps to black at frame 2068 for the dedication.
