Why it works
The opening compares three increasingly large subjects in one visual grammar by 0:21, then pauses narration for about 9.4 seconds over archival footage before returning with a concrete scale figure at 0:39. It shifts from spectacle to citywide and human consequences by 1:10, and the 1:11–1:22 rapid title burst resets attention before the chronological explanation. The measured 6:00 is only the opening of a much longer film.
