Why it works
The question is on screen at 0:00 while the notebook moves close enough to inspect by about 0:01, so one uncut opening shot supplies both promise and proof. An unrelated bird at 0:05 opens a second loop; the edit tests two attractive visual leads, pivots to archival evidence at 0:34, and returns to the bird around 1:34. The most-replayed 1:21.8–1:23.1 span shows a concrete historic paper example, reinforcing the value of visible evidence.
