Why it works
Speech opens at 0.00 s while two improbable characters share a locked frame, making an ordinary anxiety feel specific and surprising. Shot 1 holds for 575 frames with facial motion instead of cuts; the sole cut at 23.00 s replaces the busy scene with a card whose mean luma rises from 0.48 to 0.87. The card stages its second line at 26.0 s and the mark near 28.5 s.
